Segmentation is the process of choosing the contacts to whom you want to send an email. You can create a segment for individual contacts, specific imports, based on results, based on specific contact details and more.

Before sending your email communication, it is best practice to send a test to all the invested parties. Sensorpro offers a segment type called a "Seed List" which allows you to quickly create a list which can be used for testing.

Navigate to the segment list. Click the "Add New" button and you will be presented with the segment options.

If you need to send an email to all contacts, this is the way to create a segment of all active contacts (active contacts are contacts who are opted in and who aren't bounced).

What are Split Segments?

Split Segments are used to test the effectiveness of different designs or subject lines. For example you may want to test two different subject lines to see which one achieves the best open rate before emailing the remaining contacts. Once you determine which subject line was most successful, that subject line should be used to email the remaining contacts in the database.

Split segments have some special properties:

In the example below this will result in 3 segments being created based on a percentage of the selected subscribers. In this case two segments with 10% of the audience named "Split1" and "Split0" and one which contains the remaining 80%.

If one of the quick start rules does not select the subscribers you are looking for, you can build a segment that uses custom rules based on data you have imported.

When adding the segment select the "Custom (Build your own list)" tab :

The screen is split into two the top half is the sequence of rules and the bottom half is the actual rule for the rule set at the top.

The second half of the screen is the actual rule.
